Your Body Knows Best – Naturally better Health Now

Your Body knows best

You are the expert of your experience, but even experts need support sometimes.

Victoria West has been the Principal Naturopath at the Bunbury Natural Health Centre for over 25 years.  Her practice was preceded by training as a Nurse and Midwife and she has a wealth of experience in dealing with all health conditions and all ages.

Victoria’s practice is a general practice but there are key areas that remain important and are areas of passion for her.  These are gut and microbiome health, hormone health, stress, anxiety and mood disturbances and sleep.

Victoria’s philosophy is based around the 6 tenets of Natural Medicine and these are:

  1. The Healing Power of Nature: Naturopathy recognises the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. The role of the Naturopathic Physician is to facilitate and enhance this natural healing process by identifying and removing obstacles to recovery and by supporting the body’s vital force.
  2. Identify and Treat the Causes: Naturopaths seek to identify and address the underlying causes of illness rather than merely treating or suppressing symptoms. By addressing the root causes, the goal is to eliminate the source of the problem and prevent the recurrence of symptoms.
  3. First, Do No Harm: Naturopaths use methods and substances that are gentle and non-invasive, minimizing the risk of harmful side effects. They prioritize treatments that support the body’s natural processes and avoid therapies that might cause harm.
  4. Treat the Whole Person: Treat the person not just the symptoms.  Naturopathic medicine takes a holistic approach, recognizing that health and disease are influenced by a complex interplay of physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, and social factors. Treatment plans are therefore individualized to address the whole person rather than focusing solely on symptoms or specific organs.
  5. Doctor as Teacher: Naturopaths are educators, helping empower patients to take an active role in their health. They provide information and guidance to help patients make informed decisions about their well-being and encourage them to adopt healthy lifestyle practices.
  6. Prevention: Naturopathy places a strong emphasis on preventive care. By identifying and addressing risk factors, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and supporting the body’s natural defenses, naturopathic medicine aims to prevent the development of chronic diseases.
  7. Wellness: The focus of Naturopathic Medicine extends beyond the absence of disease to the promotion of overall wellness. Naturopaths aim to optimize health, enhance vitality, and improve the quality of life for their patients.
